A Scam Email with the Subject "My Dear Sir/Madam," was received in one of Scamdex's honeypot email accounts on Wed, 20 Aug 2008 02:02:31 -0700 and has been classified as a Generic Scam. The sender was "=?utf-8?q?Dr.=20William=20Adams?=" <dr_adams_20@yahoo.com.co>, although it may have been spoofed.

- My Dear Sir/Madam, I am the Treasury Controller, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation [NNPC] and a close associate of the immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources. The Minister has mandated me to transfer the sum of US$88 millions Recovered from over-invoiced contracts involving the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation [NNPC] into several private accounts in Europe and United States. A total sum of US$68,000,000.00 has been transferred before the Emergence of this present Civilian Administration, leaving the balance of US$20,000,000.00.I have madeproper arrangement/documentation to transfer the balance which is retained in a coded account of the NNPC with the Central Bank of Nigeria.
