An Email with the Subject "IRS Notification Tax refund (Internal Revenue Service)" was received in one of Scamdex's honeypot email accounts on Wed, 17 Oct 2007 11:08:42 -0700 and has been classified as a Lotto/Lottery Scam Email. The sender shows as "refund@irs.gov"<refund@irs.gov>.

The email address was probably spoofed. Do not reply to or contact any persons or organizations referenced in this email, or follow any URLs as you may expose yourself to scammers and, at the very least, you will be added to their email address lists for spam purposes.



After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined
that you are eligible to receive a tax refund under section 501 (c) (3) of the
Internal Revenue Code. Tax refund value is $249.30.
Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 3-6 days in order to IWP
the data received.

If you distribute funds to other organizations, your records must show whether
they are exempt under section 497 (c) (11). In cases where the recipient org.
is not exempt under section 497 (c) (11), you must have evidence the funds will
be used for section 497 (c) (11) purposes.

If you distribute fund to individuals, you should keep case histories showing
the recipient's name and address; the purpose of the award; the manner of
section; and the relationship of the recipient to any of your officers, directors,
trustees, members, or major contributors.
