This email with the subject "URGENT!!! : Critical Online Banking Security Update" was received in one of Scamdex's honeypot email accounts on Sun, 17 Jun 2007 01:32:47 -0700 and has been classified as a Advance Fee Fraud/419 Scam.
The sender was FNB Bank Security Department <firstname.lastname@example.org>, although it may have been spoofed.
Dear FNB Bank Customer,
Our Online banking Security team recently discovered a possible Critical security flaw
on our online banking system, and your accounts are safe of course. but we require
you to follow the simple instructions given below for security reasons
We would want you to follow the following steps to secure your online banking account.
1. Immediately Login to Online Banking
2. Select My profile Tab
3. Select The Access Details Tab
4. Change your Primary One Time PIN mechanism to EMAIL ADDRESS and Back Up One
Time PIN mechanism to SMS
This process is compulsory, as all accounts who do not comply with this instruction would be
put on immediate suspension for security reasons. This email has been sent to all FNB
Customers and is mandatory to follow
